The arctan(a) function is the inverse function of the tan(α).
You can use this function when having an equation like this: tan(α) = 0. You can use the arctan, arctan(tan(α)) = arctan(0) <=> α = arctan(0) <=> α = 0°.
Tip: arctan(a) is the same as tan^(-1) (a).
The arctan(a) function can also be displayed in a coordinate system, shown in the picture below.
